It's been a prolific year for Italian developer Milestone, with MotoGP 13, their first MotoGP game in five years, and the recently released WRC 4 enjoying a positive reception from the community. They're certainly showing no signs of slowing down either, as last month came the unexpected announcement of MXGP: The Official Motocross Videogame, their first release for 2014 scheduled for next Spring that continues their rich bike racing game heritage.

Following a brief announcement trailer last month, Milestone have released the first batch of screenshots for MXGP, depicting the Italian seven-time world champion Tony Cairoli trekking through the muddy Maggiora track featured in the game.

First opening in 1960, Maggiora is one of the most recogniseable tracks in motocross and is particularly well known for the 1986 Motocross of Nations thanks to the incredible performance of Team USA. The historical track based in Italy has hosted a number of notable events in 1990, 1992,1995,1997 and 1999, before returning to this year's FIAM Motocross World Championship calendar.

MXGP: The Official Motocross Videogame is Milestone's first motocross game since last year's MUD. Judging from the screenshots, it looks as if thegraphical leap from MUD to MXGP will like comparing WRC 2 to WRC 4. Milestone seem to be striving for authentic realism in their current games such as MotoGP and WRC, so hopefully MXGP will follow suit – particularly as MUD's lightweight physics didn't do the license justice.
