With the release of Codemasters' Hungary hot lap gameplay video for F1 2016 we can't resist the urge to put it up against last year's offering from the talented studio.

The F1 2016 gameplay is actually surprisingly dark with thick cloud cover blocking out most of the daylight. Of course Codemasters want to showcase their wet weather conditions here but I can't help but feel that most of the gameplay videos we've seen so far have been a bit on the dull side visually thanks to a general lack of light.

Check out the F1 2015 vs F1 2016 comparison video below and share with us your thoughts in the comments.

Both titles exhibit a different approach to enforce the feeling of being caught out in wet weather conditions with differing amounts on water on the camera and car. F1 2015 has plenty of water droplets which are seen descending downwards almost as if the camera is rotating to clear the viewpoint. F1 2016 takes a very different approach with fewer but larger droplets which fall down the screen in a realistic manner.

Water droplets can clearly be seen on the nose of the car in F1 2015 however in F1 2016 its almost impossible to see this effect thanks to the lighting which gives us a very flat looking nose with virtually no reflections.

Visuals aside the real focus should really be on the content of both games. F1 2015 had a woeful amount of content with the absence of the career mode, here F1 2016 wipes the floor with its predecessor with a new 10 year career mode, virtual safety car, a heavier research and development focus, manual starts, formation laps and more.
