Platform: PC, PS3, XB360

Publisher: Codemasters

Release Date: 18/09/2012

There's now just over a month before Codemasters unleash their third entry in the official F1 series with the much anticipated F1 2012. It's currently playable at this week's GamesCom show, but we haven't seen many new details come to light as of yet.

A fact sheet sent in by Codemasters confirms F1 2012's feature set, the majority of which we already knew – there's the Young Drivers Test, the recently unveiled Champions Mode and Lap Tutorials recorded by Anthony Davidson, the addition of Circuit of the Americas, Season Challenge which packs an F1 career into ten 5 lap races and localised weather.

There was a surprise announcement tucked in at the very end, however, as Codemasters have also confirmed that a playable demo will be available for F1 2012 "around September 14th." While this isn't exactly remarkable in its own right, this will mark the first time a playable demo has been released for Codemasters' F1 series – the last time we were able to sample an F1 demo was back in 2006 with F1 Championship Edition at a time when Sony held the rights.

The demo will reportedly contain the first day of the Young Drivers Test before competing in the first race of the Season Challenge, although the circuit is still to be confirmed.

Of course, it wouldn't be GamesCom without some new media to muse over, and lo and behold Codemasters has bestowed us with some fresh new screenshots for F1 2012 showcasing the Silverstone, Monza and Montreal circuits along with action race shots featuring Button, Raikonnen and Schumacher.

F1 2012 will be racing for pole position on September 21st.
