Impatient fans have been requesting a new Burnout game for years since the release of Burnout Paradise 10 years ago, but EA seems happier releasing remasters instead. Enter Three Fields Entertainment, an indie studio made up of former Criterion founders Alex Ward and Fiona Sperry. Their aim is simple: create the Burnout spiritual successor we all want.

So far, the small team has released Dangerous Golf and Danger Zone, which were heavily inspired by Burnout’s Crash modes. Today, the Three Fields Entertainment announced Danger Zone 2 coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC in July. While the original game was situated in a closed Test Area, the sequel will let you wreak havoc on public roads including American freeways, UK motorways and Spanish autovias according to Eurogamer. There are 26 single-player levels set across 17 locations.

“Danger Zone 2 is a significant step up from the first game with lots more driving including drifting and boosting, a variety of objectives, brand new vehicles and even more spectacular crashes,” Sperry said.

This wasn’t the only new game announcement, however. Three Fields also announced Dangerous Driving, a “closed track competitive racing game featuring boost, takedowns and destruction” due for release this winter. “We’re taking all that we’ve learnt to develop our most ambitious title to date,” said Ward when describing Dangerous Driving. “Dangerous Driving gets me back to making arcade racing, the kind of software I am most passionate about.”

Let’s just hope it doesn’t crash head-on into the console release of Wreckfest in November.
