Codemasters has announced the six remaining classic cars for F1 2018 – confirming the upcoming title will contain up to 20 historic Formula One cars.

Of the new cars, five have never been in a Codemasters-developed Formula One game (the 1976 Ferrari 312 T2 was an in-game reward in F1 2013 for creating a free RaceNet account).

Most of the new-to-the-series cars also represent the notorious 'ground effect' era of Formula One. The dominant Lotus 79 was one of the first Formula One cars to utilise the ground effect concept to its full potential, with the Ferrari 312 T4 and McLaren MP41/B also securing more wins and championships for ground effect vehicles before the technology was outlawed in 1983.

Rounding off the new classic car additions are the 1972 Lotus 72D and 1976 McLaren M23D, which Emerson Fittipaldi and James Hunt respectively secured their driver's championships in.

Joining the six classic cars are the 11 historic Formula One cars from F1 2017, with that game's McLaren MP4/4 pre-order bonus car also being included in all retail versions of F1 2018.

As reported previously, the 2003 Williams FW25 and the 2009 Brawn BGP-001 are also available as DLC for F1 2018. Currently, the two cars are exclusive to pre-ordered or day one purchases of F1 2018 – though the content will be made available for all players on 23rd October 2018.
