You've been requesting it, and now we're finally able to present our first preview footage of Assetto Corsa running on Xbox One.

In contrast to our PS4 preview which we played using the Thrustmaster T300 wheel, we go hands-on with Assetto Corsa on Xbox One using a controller.

First impressions are very positive: despite being used to the wheel, we're pleased to report that Assetto Corsa is very playable indeed on a controller – even using the chase camera, which is a cardinal sin for a lot of sim racers.

Being a hardcore simulation, you still need to be conservative with your inputs when applying the throttle and brakes with the triggers, and you still get better car control with a wheel, but it's a testament to Assetto Corsa's intuitive handling physics that we were still able to tame the mighty Lamborghini Huracan GT3 with the limitations of a controller.

As you'd expect, Assetto Corsa's menus and options are identical to the PS4 version. The main difference however is that Assetto Corsa runs at a reduced 900p resolution compared to 1080p on the PS4 – but unless you have a ginormous TV it's unlikely you'll be able to tell the difference. Both versions run at 60fps, but we did notice some frame drops and screen tearing on each format. Hopefully these performance issues will be rectified with the day one patch when Assetto Corsa is released on August 26th.

We will of course have some comparison videos between Assetto Corsa on the PS4 and Xbox One coming shortly, but for now you can enjoy our first look at Assetto Corsa on Xbox One below.
