VGT duo headlines Gran Turismo 6's 'v1.10' update

James Allen On July 25, 2014

Gran Turismo 6's latest update has been released, headlined by the racing game debut of the two most recent Vision Gran Turismo concept cars.

Upon installing the 'v1.10' patch, Gran Turismo 6 players will be able to experience both the Aston Martin DP-100 and Nissan Concept 2020 one-off Vision Gran Turismo design studies. As has been the case with nearly every prior VGT release, users will be able to acquire the cars either through purchasing them from the 'Vision Gran Turismo' section with in-game Credits, or recieve them for free by completing a lap in their respective Seasonal Event challenges.

Gran Turismo 6 v1.10 also brings new car customisation options to the PS3-exclusive racing game, such as race numbers and paintable brake calipers for some of the cars in the game. Whilst currently limited to a handful of the 1,200+ cars in Gran Turismo 6, it's expected these personalisation features will bemade available on other licenced vehicles through future updates and 'Hot Fix' patches.

In total, the v1.10 update weighs in as a hefty 2.1GB download, suggesting there's far more included than the two VGT cars. Indeed, according to the GTPlanet forums, data for Alfa Romeo's Vision Gran Turismo concept and a mysterious 'Circuit de la Sierra' has been found in Gran Turismo 6's coding upon installing the patch.

The full documented change log - as provided by Polyphony Digital - can be found below:

Vision Gran Turismo
The "Aston Martin DP-100 Vision Gran Turismo" and the "NISSAN CONCEPT 2020 Vision Gran Turismo" have been released.

After the update has been installed, the cars can be purchased from the [Vision GT] option within the [CARS] section in "My Home". Alternatively, it is also possible to obtain the cars by completing a lap (regardless of the lap time) in the new Seasonal Events, available only for a limited time.

Brake calipers can now be painted
It is now possible to paint the brake calipers on cars equipped with a "Racing Brake Kit", purchasable from the [Brake Kits] page listed under the [Suspension] menu of the [Tuning Parts] option within the [TUNING & SERVICING] section of "My Home". Please note not all cars' brake calipers can be painted.

Driver Number customisation
The "Driver Number" feature accessible from the [Garage] menu of "My Home" is now available for a larger selection of cars. The selection of [Typeface] designs on which the numbers are displayed have also been increased.

Engine brake reduction control on formula cars have been disabled
The engine brake reduction control that was active on certain formula cars have now been disabled. (This is a feature that helps drivers avoid spinning out from excessive braking forces generated by the engine at throttle off, by slightly opening the throttle while cornering even with the accelerator pedal completely released.)
