Ubisoft has officially announced The Crew 2, a direct sequel to Ivory Tower's open world racer released back in 2014 as part of its 2017 fiscal year earnings report. In addition,  Far Cry 5, a new Assassins Creed game and  South Park: The Fractured But Whole were also revealed to be coming within the next 12 months.

The announcement was made on the official Ubisoft forum, but there's very little to go on for now apart from a logo and a cryptic message saying “Beyond the road… Stay with us for more high-octane thrills!” If we're to speculate, this could be hinting at a possible stronger emphasis on off-roading much like the recent teaser for the new upcoming Need for Speed sequel. Since the announcement was made during the 2017 fiscal year earnings report, The Crew 2 should be released by March 2018 presumably for PS4, Xbox One and PC, and possibly Project Scorpio.

The announcement of courses raises the question of where The Crew 2 will be set. The original game, which recently surpassed 12 million online players, featured a massive open-world recreation of the United States. Given that Ivory Tower is located in Lyon, France, it probably wouldn't be too far-fetched to see The Crew 2 set in Europe, but that's pure speculation.

Speculation that The Crew 2 was in development already started back in April when Ivory Tower confirmed that there will be no new content updates for The Crew following the release of the Calling All Units and Wild Run expansions. No doubt we'll learn more about The Crew 2 at Ubisoft's E3 conference on June 12th.
