News Timo Glock departs from Marussia

in a shock announcement, the Marussia F1 team has confirmed that Timo Glock won't be one of their two drivers in the upcoming 2013 Formula One season.
in the official statement from the Banbury-based outfit, Marussia and Glock have both agreed to "part company with immediate effect".
Though no official reason for Glock's departure was disclosed, it seems that – if we take the words of Marussia team boss John Booth literally – it seems he wasn't able to bring enough finances to the team to justify his seat at the currently 'back-of-the-pack' team.
In his statement, Booth declared that "commercial considerations' were taken in the procedure that lead to Glock's retirement for the team he's driven for since its debut in 2010 under the Virgin banner.
Booth added "the ongoing challenges facing the industry mean that we have had to take steps to secure our long-term future".
Whilst Glock himself did not allude to the reasons why he left the team, he did suggest his career as a racing driver won't terminate with his sacking from Marussia.
Although it is not the path I expected to be taking, I am in fact very excited about what the future holds in terms of my own career and I hope to comment on that very soon".
Indeed, it's strongly suggested that Glock will partake in DTM, the German touring cars championship – not only does Glock have connections with BMW, through his tenure at the Sauber team when it was owned by the Bavaria-based car manufacturer, as well as the Formmula BMW series he competed in before making it to F1, but BMW DTM driver Dirk Muller has recently welcomed Glock "to the club" on Twitter.
It's also just been announced that Glock has a test session in a BMW DTM car has been lined up on a currently undisclosed date at Valencia sometime this week.
As for the driver who'll replace Glock and partner new recruit Max Chilton in the 2013 season, no one knows for sure, though speculative reports are suggesting that former Williams driver Bruno Senna and GP2's Luiz Razia (who was Marussia's test driver in 2010 when it was Virgin F1) have been linked to the empty seat.
