The inaugural season of the Forza Racing Championship for Forza Motorsport 6 begins today.
The eSports championship was first announced back in June, and is being presented this season by Ford Performance. The competition will play out over three weeks across two series.
The Open Series will see players of all skill levels competing in weekly Forza Racing Championship Leagues for DLC prizes like the recently released Porsche and NASCAR Expansion Packs and the Forza Motorsport 6 Car Pass.
The more experienced Forza Motorsport 6 players will do battle in the Forza Racing Championship Elite Series. In this Elite series players will compete for various prizes from Xbox and Logitech, with the grand champion being awarded a real 2017 Ford Focus RS courtesy of Ford Performance.
The first Forza Racing Championship Rivals Qualifier will go live today (Monday, August 8), and will be followed up by the Forza Racing Championship Elite Series Week 1 Cup hosted by ESL, as well as a live Week 1 Showdown, which will be broadcast live on the Forza Twitch channel at 11 a.m. Pacific on Sunday, August 14. The top four finishers will move on to the Forza Racing Championship Season 1 Grand Finals, which will be held on September 4.
According to Turn 10 Studios, everyone who takes part in the Forza Racing Championship has a chance to win something. For both the Open and Elite Series, Turn 10 are offering special exclusive bonus cars complete with custom Forza Racing Championship liveries that will change each and every week. In the Open Series, you can earn a 1971 Ford Falcon XY GHTO Phase III bonus car. With the Elite Series you have the chance to get your hands on the 1973 Ford Escort 1600.
