Slightly Mad Studios has announced that players can look forward to a free car in Project CARS every month, as a thank you for their patience in awaiting the game's release following its delay until May. The first free car available in May will be the ludicrously luxurious Lykan Hypersport from W Motors, which is touted as one of the rarest and most expensive cars ever made.

The Lykan Hypersport is the first supercar to be produced in the Middle East. Only seven were made, and it's so swanky that you can embelish it with fitted options including embeddable diamonds, emeralds, and sapphires. As such, it can be yours for a modest $3.4 million – that makes it the third expensive car in the world after the Lamborghini Venenoa and Maybach Exelero.

It's equipped with a 740 bhp with a top speed of 245mph, and is capable reaching 62mph in just 2.8 seconds.

Creative Director Andy Tudor commented: “We are immensely pleased to have this awesome machine in the game and to give fans the chance to get behind the wheel of a truly amazing vehicle. The Lykan Hypersport represents the first of a series of free cars we’ll be giving away every month as a thank you to our fans for being so patient for the launch of the game. We’ll have more info on the full schedule of further content for Project CARS soon but we hope that this is a great sneak peek of just one way in which Project CARS is going to expand in the future.”

Interestingly, the Lykan Hypersport first debuted in DriveClub, also as a free download. It is set to star in the upcoming Fast and Furious 7 film in a setpiece stunt that sees it defy the laws of physics and soar through a skyscraper.
