Sébastien Loeb Rally EVO's obligatory preorder-exclusive content has been revealed. Available only at GAME, the Sébastien Loeb Rally EVO Day One Edition will contain a host of vintage rally DLC including the historical 1988 Pikes Peak Hillclimb circuit and two purpose-built cars from the era: the Peugeot 405 T16 PP  and Suzuki Escudo.

At the time, the Peugeot 405 T16 set the fastest record at the hair-raising hillclimb, going round PIkes Peak in 10:47.77.  It's based on the T16 Grand Raid but fitted with some modifications to tackle Pikes Peak: specifically a  turbocharged in-line 4-cylinder 600 hp lifted from the Peugeot 205 T16, lowered suspension, revised aerodynamics, front and rear-mounted wings to maximise downforce and a four-wheel steering system which was unheard of in rallying at the time.

The Suzuki Escudo on the other hand made a name for itself in the '90s. More commonly known as the Escudo Pikes Peak, it was  purpose built prototype for the Pikes Peak hillclimb that produced an incredible 985 bhp at 8,100 rpm  thanks to its 2493 cc V6 engine with twin turbo. Coupeld with this brutal power, it only weighted 800 kg, resulting in a power to weight ratio of less than one. 0 – 60 mph time? Three seconds, and a top speed of 168 mph. No wonder it needed such a massive rear wing to produce sufficient downforce. I still have fond memories of taming this overpowered beast in Gran Turismo 2 back in the day.

Both cars are showcased in the video trailers posted above, providing our first full glimpse at the legendary Pikes Peak hillclimb circuit circa 1988 in Sébastien Loeb Rally EVO which is undouedebly one of its key selling points – just as the Isle of Man TT would have been in Ride. No doubt comparisons are already being made to DiRT Rally's impressive recreation of Pikes Peak

Is the 1988 Pikes Peak and its accompanying cars enough to entice you to put in a preorder for Sébastien Loeb Rally EVO?
