Rocket League has been one of the most popular automotive titles to release this year, so popular in fact that it just passed the eight million players milestone.

The incredible achievement was announced by developer Psyonix yesterday on their official Twitter page. The game's success will only no doubt continue too when it eventually releases on the Xbox One console at some point in the future as Psyonix have been hinting in recent months.

The main reason for its success was no doubt because it was one of the free Playstation Plus games back in July. The game's creators have been extremely busy working on the back of the game's success with multiple DLC releases both paid and for free.

It would perhaps be another great move for Psyonix if they could release Rocket League for Xbox One as part of Microsoft's Games with Gold for a similar success story on the Xbox One. Then again the exposure its received already may suggest that it might not be the best course of action after all.

Rocket League's Chaos Run DLC has also been released today for the PC and Playstation 4. The DLC, available for £2.79 on Steam and £3.29 on the Playstation Network, comes complete with two new battle-cars and a number of new garage items including wheels and rocket trails all set to the theme of Mad Max. Additionally all Rocket League players will be gifted with the new “Wasteland” map too.

If that wasn't enough, Psyonix have also released their Portal-themed garage items for free today as we reported on yesterday. As always, we'll keep you up to date on all things Rocket League as soon as we know more.
