Release Date: 06/05/2015

With this week's surprising announcement of Slightly Mad Studio's free-to-play MMO World of Speed coming this year, many have been wondering if this will hinder the development of the highly-anticipated Project CARS which was due to creep up behind Forza and Gran Turismo's bumper this year too. Worry no more however, as a new trailer affirms that Project CARS is indeed still on-track for release in 2014.

What's special about this particular trailer, however, is that what you're seeing here is technically the first Project CARS trailer officially released by Slightly Mad Studios – as with the regular raft of screenshots, all previous trailers were produced and released by the active community. Having said that, this trailer was actually produced by WMD member JonZ. Slightly Mad Studios liked it so much, they decided to promote it as an official trailer.

It's hardly surprising, though, as this is yet another stunning piece of work showcasing Project CARS sublime graphical prowess and a montage of tracks and cars we can expect in the final game later this year.

Meanwhile, there are plenty of developments going on under the bonnet, as recent rumblings in the WMD forum has revealed some of the content we can expect in the near future.

An early development version of the Mercedes Benz C Class DTM Coupe has already been made available in the latest developer build. Other cars scheduled to arrive in Project CARS soon include the 1972 Ford Escort RS1600, the Ginetta G40 Junior and the Ruf CTR3, along with the Mercedes Benz A-Class AMG and the BMW 320TC WTCC later down the lne.

In terms of tracks, the laster-scanned Oulton Park is apparently shaping up nicely, as is development on the Circuit de la Sarthe.

As ever, Slightly Mad are continually improving the physics, whilst also focusing on other design elements such as the user interface which is currently undergoing a revamp and testing a 64-bit version of the game.
