Project CARS is set to receive another track expansion this month as part of Slightly Mad's On Demand programme, with the Stanceworks Track Expansion releasing on January 26th.

Announced via Red Bull this week, the star of the Stanceworks Track Expansion is the mighty Mazda MX-5 RADBUL Formula Drift car driven by Red Bull's very own drifting star Mad Mike. With 1500bhp to boot, the specially modified Mazda regularly features in the US Formula Drift competition.

This isn't the first time Mad Mike has collaborated with Slightly Mad Studios: "For the cars, we worked closely with Mad Mike on our previous title, Shift 2 Unleashed, where we built his Mazda RX-7 (FC3S) machine," Slightly Mad's Creative Director Andy Tudor told Red Bull. "He's been running the RADBUL MX-5 with our Project CARS logo on it throughout last year's Formula Drift season, so we've had almost a year to make sure it's accurate to his real-life counterpart in terms of build, sound, and handling."

Be warned however: being a car designed for driving sideways, taming the RADBUL won't be for the faint hearted. "I'm not going to lie: with an open roof and flames shooting out of the hood vent like an angry dragon, it's going to take a little time for people to get a grip – no pun intended – on its unique characteristics and power output," Tudor said. "But when you do and you're gliding sideways with the scream of the engine there’s nothing better."

Joining the RADBUL are three additional cars, each representing a different discipline of motorsport from trackdays to touring cars: the KTM X-Bow R and two BMWs; the 1-Series M-Coupe and 2002 model. The two featured BMs were modified by automotive lifestyle enthusiast Stanceworks

This month's free car is also the Ford Falcon FG, best known for its role in the Australian V8 Supercar series.

Being an expansion, just adding a few new cars isn't enough. Also included is a brand new road course called Bannochbrae set in the Scottish highlands to compliment the existing California Highway and French Riveria road circuits.

"We wanted to represent the kind of beautiful sweeping roads and countryside that many fans in the UK love to take road trips to visit. A pit lane positioned beside a petrol station near a small village, a loch complete with sailing ships, a high viaduct and local chapel, and even some animated sheep make this an ideal location for historical recreations," said Tudor.

Scheduled for release on January 26th for PC, PS4 and Xbox One, the Stanceworks Track Expansion is shaping up to be another fine addition to the On Demand programme, adding yet more diversity to the car and track selection which of course is the very ethos of Project CARS.

Project CARS was originally released last May, so it's good to see Slightly Mad are still supporting it despite the criticism the developer received for announcing Project CARS 2 a few months after release.
