Over 2 million copies of Gran Turismo 6 have been sold

Over 2 million copies of Gran Turismo 6 have been sold since the game's launch in December 2013.

According to court documents released on Google Scholar, the PlayStation 3-exclusive racing game has sold 2.37 million copies as of 21st August 2015.

This information means Gran Turismo 6 is one of the best-selling first party racing games since the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One were launched - despite GT6 being released on a now-outdated console, and posting some disappointingly low first week sales

It isn't known, however, if the '2.37 million copies' figure refer to physical releases, or also includes digital versions of the game.

Also confirmed in the court documents was the revelation that roughly 230,000 copies of Gran Turismo 5 had been sold between March 2013 (the last time Gran Turismo 5's sales figures were officially updated) and August 2015, even though all support for the title was terminated in July 2014.

The court documents were sourced from an ongoing case between Sony Computer Entertainment America and the Italian flooring company VIRAG, with the latter claiming its logo has been used in Gran Turismo 5 and Gran Turismo 6's renditions of the Autodromo Nazionale Monza circuit without authorisation.
