News Nissan DeltaWing removed from Gran Turismo 6 car line-up

In a curious move by Polyphony Digital, the Nissan DeltaWing – one of the "halo cars", so to speak, for Gran Turismo 6 – has been removed from the game's official car roster.
Given the DeltaWing has been prominently featured in Gran Turismo 6's promotional tools (such as the 'Start Your Engines' trailer embedded below, which was published only a few days ago), it is striking that the car has been removed from the list a mere month before Gran Turismo 6's global release date.
Neither Sony Computer Entertainment or Polyphony Digital have provided any explanation, it is likely that licencing issues are what have reuslted in the DeltaWing being at least temporarily cordoned off from Gran Turismo 6 – according to this post by AutoBlog, Don Panoz (the owner of the rights to the DeltaWing patents and intellectual property) was at least considering taking legal action against Nissan when the news article went live on September 17th earlier this year, due to the similarity in design between the ZEOD RC electric racing car and the DeltaWing.
It is worth pointing out, though, that the DeltaWing's removal does leave Gran Turismo 6 with a still-very-impressive 1,196 cars for us all to play with, and the disclaimer on the official car roster on the Gran Turismo website states "this list is one part of the cars planned for inclusion, and is subject to change", so watch this space in the coming days and weeks should there be any more announcements.
