Whilst the Project CARS beta in its current state is already a pretty impressive gathering of iconic race tracks, fabulous road and race cars and stunningly accurate visuals and detailing, it seems they're not the only focal points of Slightly Mad Studios' highly anticipated racer.

In announcements that were issued to all the registered members of the beta phase, the SMS develipers appear to have plenty of new additions that, we're told, will materialise in the development demo sooner rather than later.

Not only will customisable head-up displays (HUD) be added to Project CARS in the coming months, but what appears to be a drastic overhaul of the game's audio is also being planned, as is a new in-game camera system (though we're not sure if this is for replays or for viewpoints that can be selected by the player) and the constant changes to the game's graphics and physics.

Perhaps the cream of the crop, though, is the announcement that a "fully functioning" championship and qualifying mode will soon be implemented in Project CARS. What SMS means by this is still a bit vague at this moment in time – does it build on the championship features already in the beta? Is it an exclusive for single player or multiplayer gameplay? Is it for both areas? – but it's still intriguing nonetheless.

Long story short, as we get closer and closer to the currently undisclosed release date that's projected to be later this year, there still seem to be plenty of new features to keep the registered members occupied until the completed game is ready to go on sale…
