Publisher: Electronic Arts

Release Date: 30/10/2012

It's been rather quiet on the video front for Criterion's Need for Speed Most Wanted, with EA instead opting to tease us with car reveals and pointless pre-order bonuses. Thankfully, a new, if not too revealing, trailer has whetted our appetite for destruction, and we're pleased to report that it includes new gameplay footage after previous 'new' trailers were simply rehashes of the extended E3 playthrough.

Truth be told, the new gameplay trailer serves to further flaunt the collection of American Dream Machines, featuring the colossal Corvette ZR1 vaulting over boats and the heavyweight Hummer H1 ploughing through the destructable scenery.

It sends out a perfectly clear message: don't expect to keep your rides in pristine condition for very long, a point that's accentuated by the lingering close-up shots of dirt covering the Corvette. Of course, Criterion are renowned for their advanced damage modelling, so expect these licensed beauties to get pretty banged up, too. It's a far cry from the days when showing even the smallest scratch on a licensed car was an absolute no-no from the manufacturer's point of view.

We're also treated to an unexpected car reveal in the form of the the Koenigsegg Agera R, which was previously featured in Need for Speed: The Run. With a top speed of 217mph and the ability to reach 200mph in 17.68 before coming to a halt 7.28 seconds, this Sweedish speedster should be a formidable match for the FCPD.

We also gain an insight into the diversity of the open world Fairhaven City, from deserted trainyards, expansive construction yards and storm drains with ample opportunity for flatout speed. All in all, it promises to be a spectacular automotive playground to engage in high speed chases and we can't wait to fully explore every nook and cranny.

The chase begins when Need for Speed Most Wanted is let loose onto the streets November 2nd.
