Mitsubishi has unexpectedley revealed it's contribution to the Vision Gran Turismo programme, in tandem with the car's release in Gran Turismo 6.
First announced as soon as the V1.08 update for Gran Turismo 6 was released, the Mitsubishi Concept XR-PHEV Evolution is the latest Vision Gran Turismo vehicle to be revealed, and the fourth to be added to the game.
Co-designed by Mitsubishi's R&D and aerodynamic engineering divisions, and a continuation of the XR-PHEV concept car revealed at last year's Tokyo Motor Show, the XR Evolution is a petrol-electric plug-in hybrid performance car that harks back to Mitsubishi's roots in the World Rally Championship and the fearsome Dakar Rally.
Mitsubishi has yet to state the capacity and cylinder count of the XR Evo's petrol engine, but has confirmed the concept car's total power output is transferred to all four wheels through an eight-speed dual clutch transmission.
It's also been claimed that a combination of lightweight carbon-fibre body panels and an extensive use of aerodynamic components greatly enhances the XR-PHEV's agility and cornering speeds, and help ensures the car is a "stoic racing machine".
The Mitsubishi Concept XR-PHEV Evolution Vision Gran Turismo can be acquired in Gran Turismo 6 with in-game currency through the 'Vision Gran Turismo' sub-section, or as a free gift for participating in the commemorative Seasonal Event for the XR Evo.
