News McLaren MP4-30 F1 car coming to iRacing

iRacing.com has confirmed an all-new car for its subscription-based PC racing sim: the McLaren MP4-30 Formula One car.

As stated in the official announcement, iRacing's MP4-30 is claimed to be "an authentic version" of the Honda-powered single seater, with the car's complex energy recovery and drag reduction systems set to be fully replicated in the title.

Though no official release date was cited in the statement, iRacing claims the McLaren open-wheeler will be brought to the title in the summer of 2015.

McLaren's first Honda-powered F1 car for over twenty years, the MP4-30 will race in anger for the first time at next week's Australian Grand Prix. Though the Honda powertrain is claimed to be on par with the class-leading Mercedes unit, a troubled pre-season testing period for the McLaren team means the car's true pace won't be known until the first qualifying session on Saturday 14th March.
