Gran Turismo developer Polyphony Digital has released a surprise addition to Gran Turismo 6: Mazda's Vision Gran Turismo concept car.
Christened the LM55, the new VGT is Mazda Design's interpretation of a Le Mans Prototype for the near future, utilising Mazda's innovative 'SKYACTIV' energy-saving technology from its road cars for optimum use in endurance races.
The LM55 also pays homage to the iconic Mazda 787B. For instance, the front end and short rear overhangs are all reminiscent of the 787B, whilst the '55' in its name is a reference to the number on the car which won the 24 Heures du Mans outright in 1991.
As with prior Vision Gran Turismo releases, players can acquire the Mazda LM55 in-game through the 'Vision GT' sub-menu, or by setting a lap time in the commemorative Seasonal Event.
Unusually, a new update for Gran Turismo 6 isn't needed to access the LM55. Instead, a 'HotFix' patch instead needs to be installed before players can the Mazda Vision Gran Turismo is made available in the game.
