Slightly Mad Studios has released the first of what promises to be several free car downloads for Project CARS: the Lykan Hypersport, which can be accessed right now on PSN, and presumably XBL and PC.

Hailed as one of the most exclusive and expensive cars ever made, the Hypersport is the first car to be produced in the MIddle East and recently appeared in Fast and Furious 7…where it was dropped from a skyscraper. Probabably not how you should treat one of the rarest cars in the world.

Its performance speaks for itself: The Hypersport boasts 740 bhp, capable of reaching 62mph in just 2.8 seconds with a top speed of 245mph. And if you needed reminded of its prestige, optional fitting extras include diamonds, emeralds, and sapphires.

The Hypersport marks the first of many free monthly cars planned for Project CARS. “We are immensely pleased to have this awesome machine in the game and to give fans the chance to get behind the wheel of a truly amazing vehicle," Creative Director Andy Tudor commented during its previous announcement. "The Lykan Hypersport represents the first of a series of free cars we’ll be giving away every month as a thank you to our fans for being so patient for the launch of the game. We’ll have more info on the full schedule of further content for Project CARS soon but we hope that this is a great sneak peek of just one way in which Project CARS is going to expand in the future.”

A free Community Livery Pack has also been released in a separate download, featuring a host of designs including an accurate recreation of Deadmau5' livery for his BAC Mono.

The Hypersport first made its video game debut in DriveClub, so expect comparisons to emerge. Are you enjoying driving the Hypersport in Project CARS? I've found it to be quite a handful to drive so far, so it's definitely a car you have to learn to tame.
