News High speed flipbook created for Forza Motorsport 5 in FilmSpeed video

Now this is how you advertise a driving game everyone. 

We're all familiar with flipbooks, where you painstakingly draw a series of sketches on successive pages and then flick through them to create a crude animation that sort of resembles a car travelling at high speed. Well, some supremely talented folk from McLaren and Forza Motorsport have taken the concept one stage further by utilising a McLaren MP4-12C, a series of still images taken from Forza Motorsport 5, a race track and a video camera.

The result is one ambitious life-sized flipbook and one memorable marketing campaign for the forthcoming Forza Motorsport 5:

680 Forza 5 screengrabs were printed onto alluminum boards before the McLaren was unleashed onto the Birmingham Motorsports Park racetrack in Alabama driven by Top Gear USA host Tanner Faust, who captured the footage with a camera bolted into the engine block whilst maintaining a speed of 120 mph.

It's undeniably impressive feat that captures the intent of Forza Motorsport, combining old and new tech, technical achievement and emotional impact.
