News HRT put up for sale

Ever since HRT entered the world of Formula One as Hispania in 2010, the team has been in almost constant financial difficulty. In the three years it's been active in F1, no less than three companies have tried to turn the fledgling racing outfit into a successful one.

It now seems, though, that HRT might be have a fourth new owner soon, as it's been reported that the team is now up for sale.

Despite its plans to transform the team and establish it as a 'Spanish national team', the investment group Thesan Capital – the company that bought HRT in July this year – has decided that it's now right to see if someone else can turn the team around.

In an official statement, the firm declared that, although it was "proud of the work done by the entire team", the investment company believed the racing team would "continue growing with new financial backing", and "enable the team to…become a reference in modern-day Formula 1" .

The press release goes on to say that HRT's current owners are "in talks with a number of groups interested in buying the team", and plans on being able to "conclude the sale" and "communicate the name of its new owner in the coming weeks".
