A Gran Turismo-supported interactive campaign has been announced, which will culminate in the Italian-American racing legend Mario Andretti being reunited with the Hudson Hornet he made his motorsports debut with in 1959.

The unique promotional campaign – officially dubbed "GT6 First Love" – aims to engage with the Gran Turismo community in a way the series has never attempted before: by allowing viewers to "interact with the mechanics in real-time and solve daily challenges as the community brings Mario’s First Love back to life".

Split up into three separate "Chapters", the campaign will eventually end on December 16th later this year, where the team of mechanics will hand over the Hudson to Mario Andretti, and Polyphony Digital will reveal how the sentimentally special car will be included in Gran Turismo 6:

  • Chapter 1: Andretti – "Watch the Mario Andretti story and help rebuild the car that started it all".
  • Chapter 2: Live Build – "Join Billy and Andrew LIVE to help rebuild Mario Andretti’s first race car. Interact with the mechanics in real-time
and solve daily challenges as the community brings Mario’s First Love back to life."
  • Chapter 3: Reunion – "Watch racing legend Mario Andretti reunite with his first race car and find out how the car is recreated
in Gran Turismo 6 for everyone to race."

No official statement has been released by either Polyphony Digital, Sony Computer Entertainment or any of the parties affiliated with the GT6 First Love project has been published, though the campaign does have its own official website for when the live streams begin on December 8th, so do bookmark that site if you're keen on following the campaign to rebuild and reunite the Hudson Hornet stock car with its legendary former owner.
