Forza Motorsport 6: Apex, the bite-sized version of Forza Motorsport 6 for the PC, is now available to play with the launch of its open beta.

The free-to-play title can be obtained exclusively from the Windows Store for Windows 10 PCs and weighs in at around the 18 GB mark. According to developer Turn 10 Studios, the open beta will last several months and will see updates throughout that period. Upcoming updates include the much needed racing wheel support (as no racing wheels are currently supported).

Running on the PC, a Forza Motorsport title can now take advantage of DirectX 12 technology and can be played with resolutions running up to 4K meaning a Forza title will have never looked crisper. Micro transactions are confirmed for Apex, with Turn 10 Studios commenting that they simply allow players to make their way through the game much quicker instead of it being a micro transaction driven title.

Apex will feature 63 cars, 20 track configurations spread across six locales and wet-weather and night racing have also been confirmed. The PC version of Forza Motorsport 6 will also take advantage of Windows 10 features such as accessing friends and achievements lists, text and voice chat via Xbox Live and more.
