A common complaint directed at the free-to-play PC racer Forza Motorsport 6: Apex was its curious lack of wheel support: it seemed like a massive oversight, particularly when PC players practically expect to be able to play racing simulators with a wheel on release.

However, Forza Motorsport 6 Apex is now no longer in beta and is now available as a full fledged title on the Windows 10 store that's still free-to-play. To celebrate the announcement, Turn10 has added wheel support to Forza Motorsport 6: Apex, enabling compatibility for a range of Thrustmaster and Logitech wheels.

You can find the full list of supported wheels for Forza Motorsport 6: Apex below:

  • Logitech G27 Racing Wheel
  • Logitech G25 Racing Wheel
  • Logitech G29 Racing Wheel
  • Logitech MOMO Force Feedback Racing Wheel
  • Thrustmaster T300RS
  • Thrustmaster T500 RS Gaming Wheel
  • Logitech G920 Xbox One Wheel
  • Thrustmaster T150
  • Thrustmaster TX Xbox One Wheel
  • Thrustmaster TMX Xbox One Wheel
  • Thrustmaster RGT Force Feedback Racing Wheel

Turn10 stated in their announcement that Fanatec wheels will also be supported in a forthcoming update in late September, which will add support for wheels such as the ClubSport V2 Xbox One Hub and the Fanatec CSR. H-pattern shifters are also supported for all listed Logitech wheels, with the exception of the G29 which will be added at a later date along with H-pattern shifters from other manufacturers.

"We’re extremely excited to announce that today’s content update for Apex will bring wheel support to the Forza Motorsport series on Windows 10 for the first time," Turn10 commented. "This is a major landmark for the Forza series on Windows 10 and has been the result of months of hard work from the Turn 10 and Windows teams."

"By adding wheel support to Forza Motorsport 6: Apex, we continue to work towards our goal of improving the Apex experience for players and making racing better on Windows 10. We recognize that today’s CU is just the beginning of that journey," they continued. "As has been the case with Apex since the beginning, we welcome player feedback around the wheel implementation in the game."

Forza Motorsport 6: Apex launched earlier this year as a free-to-play open beta on PC representing Forza's first foray onto the PC platform. It includes 63 Forzavista cars, six tracks including Brands Hatch, Rio de Janerio, Spa, Sebring, Top Gear, and Yas Marina and supports resolutions up to 4K.

Forza Horizon 3 will also be available on PC alongside Xbox One later this month, and will offer the same wheel support as Forza Motorsport 6: Apex.
