After teasing us with a series of sumptuous screenshots, Milestone has finally released the first snippet of gameplay footage of MotoGP '13, giving us a tour of the scenic Mugello circuit.

Despite being at an early stage of development, the 2 minute video certainly lives up to the graphical prowess displayed in the initial screenshots. Indeed, Milestone seem to have honed their skills learnt from the development of WRC 3's Spike Engine – both the track and the bike models look very good indeed when you compare it to some of Milestone's earlier projects, from the intricately detailed dashboard complete with working instruments, to the realistic sun glare that casts a subtle sheen on the bike's bodywork.

We'll have to wait and see how it handles when we get our own hands-on, but from what's been shown the physics and animations seem fluid and in-line with Milestone's previous work on the SBK series. We particularly like the realistic rider animations, too – watch when the rider over steps the mark in the final segment and nearly lunges off the bike, leaving him sprawled off the side as he attempts to recover. Hopefully the bail animations will be just as wincingly-authentic.

We're expecting more gameplay videos and screenshots to emerge over the next few weeks in the run-up to MotoGP '13's release in June. Until then, do you like what you see from this first gameplay snippet? Milestone would love to hear your feedback, so let us know in the comments below, on our Facebook page or on our forum
