Last month, Microsoft dropped the bombshell that the next-gen Xbox One system will not support existing Xbox 360 wheel peripherals, meaning you will have to discard of your swanky CSR Elite wheel made of carbon fiber and fork out for a new Thrustmaster 458 TX to experience Forza Motorsport 5 how it was meant to be played. This hasn't stopped the German manufacturer from searching for a solution, however.

Initially there were talks over the possibility of releasing an adapter that would enable Xbox One compatibility. Sadly, the situation seems to be more complicated than it seemed according to an update posted on Fanatec's Facebook page: "So far there is no adapter solution to make an Xbox360 wheels compatible with Xbox One and it is unsure if this will be possible," it reads.

However, in more positive news Fanatec have all but confirmed that they are working on a new peripheral for Xbox One. Better still, existing pedal and shifter sets will most likely work: "But there is a high chance that you can use your pedals, rims and shifters with a potential new Fanatec wheel for Xbox One although we cannot confirm a launch date yet. This will save you a lot of money and you can keep using the equipment you prefer."

The mention of rims implies that the new device will be high-end too in-line with their CSR range and support existing detachable rims such as the ClubSport and the Formula rim.
