News Fanatec reveal their new CSL Elite range for Xbox One and PC

Fanatec have revealed their new CSL Elite range of racing peripherals for Xbox One and PC, designed to be a more affordable, mid-range alternative to their high-end ClubSport series which is highly regarded among sim racing enthusiasts. 

Three products have been revealed in the new CSL Elite series. Headlining the CSL range is the new CSL Elite Wheel Base, which is positioned below the ClubSport Wheel Base V2, yet more powerful than the V1 and is compatible with all CSL and ClubSport steering wheels. The CSL Elite Wheel Base is powered by a brushless servo motor in combination with a single belt drive to deliver "incredibly smooth and super-fast Force Feedback effects with instant acceleration, eliminating dead spots" and supports up to 1080 degrees of wheel rotation.

New to the CSL Elite Wheel Base are rev lights built into the top cover of the wheel base to display information such as RPM and fuel levels. You can either hard mount the CSL Elite Wheel Base using the hard-mount points or attach it to a desk or table using the supplied table clamp. 

CSL Elite Wheel Base features

• ​Ultra strong brushless servo motor which delivers >6Nm of torque on the steering axis
• Single Belt Drive unit for direct power transfer from motor to steering axis and with big ball bearings for lowest friction
• 1080° of rotation which can be adjusted in the tuning menu of the attached Steering Wheel
• Integrated rev light bar in the Wheel Base
• Quick Release system to allow the easy exchange of Steering Wheels within seconds, also during gameplay
• Table Clamp for Wheel Base included!
• Pedal units and heel rest made from Aluminum
• Adjustable horizontal distance between pedal units, allows asynchronous setup
• Ability to easily remove pedals from heelrest and install them together with the electronics in cockpits or stands separately
• 12bit resolution potentiometers on throttle and clutch pedal units
• 16bit resolution loadcell brake pedal unit
• High durable loadcell integration with pedal pressure up to 90 kg
• Adjustable brake resistance and travel by exchangable rubber buffers. No tools needed​
• Steering Wheel with low weight of only 1170 g for increased acceleration and fidelity
• Buttons with Xbox One symbols
• RevStripe™ which is a combined Centerstripe and a revmeter, using a multicolour LED

Also available is the CSL Elite Pedals. Sporting a full-metal aluminium design, Fanatec say the CSL Elite pedals deliver the same technology and materials used in high-end pedals such as the ClubSport V3 Pedals, despite the mid-range asking price. Each pedal can be individually adjusted or separately mounted to custom cockpits, and include detachable rubber pads to give you the choice between grip and a slick surface.

Rounding off the series is the CSL Elite Pedals Loadcell Kit, which allows you to add an additional clutch pedal and a state of the art load cell brake pedal with realistic resistanse which can take up to 90g of pressure if you need to brake hard and can be fully adjusted. The exchangeable electronics unit adds USB connectivity and a Handbrake port.

• The whole pedal arm is a load cell sensor

• Applicable anti-skid-pads (3) for the pedal surface offer a perfect grip for racing shoes
• USB connection to PC
• Direct connection to Fanatec Wheel Bases and Wheels
• Dedicated port for ClubSport Handbrake

Fanatec are currently taking pre-orders on their website which are expected to be delivered in late October. The CSL Elite Wheel Base will sell for 319,95 Euros while the CSL Elite pedals will retail for 89,95€. The additional load-cell kit will retail for 139,95€. 

To coincide with the release of Assetto Corsa, Fanatec are also offering a special Assetto Corsa Edition bundle which includes all CSL Elite products plus a free copy of Assetto Corsa on Xbox One for 689.80€.

Currently, the Fanatec CSL Elite range only supports Xbox One and PC. Regarding PS4 compatibility, Fanatec have addressed the issue in a statement, confirming they are still working to resolve compatibility with Sony:

"We know that a lot of people want to know what the status is but we cannot announce anything before the contract is signed. We have a good relationship with Sony but we need to follow the rules and although there are absolutely no points of disagreement, sometimes things takes a while because of procedures and work flows. I am confident that we can announce a PS4 Version of this Wheel base soon."
