A fresh batch of screenshots have been released for Codemasters' F1 2012 to coincide with E3 and they look…well, about as good as the initial screenshots, really. The accurately rendered Austin circuit is once again shown, but of particular note is the advanced lighting shown in the screenshot below, with sun glare gleaming off Jensen's McLaren:

Don't forget these screenshots are still work in progress, with the game only around 70% complete at this point.

E3 has revealed little else for F1 2012, sadly, although interviews from other sources have disclosed a few titbits of info. Much is being made of the new Young Drivers mode, which is a method used in the real life championship to discover new racing talent from lower tiers such as GP2. It's all part of Codemasters' attempt to make this year's F1 game more accessable to novice players, as this will be included at the start of the career mode acting as tutorials – only Ferrari, McLaren and Red Bull will be accessable in this mode.

In terms of physics, Codemasters described their ambition to make last year's F1 2011 "a more involving game" that was "to the detriment of stability." They want players of F1 2012 to feel the car "committed to the corner when you really attack it," but also experience the excitement of the car sliding at slower speeds as the wheels lock or the tyres get old.

Other improvements are said to include a new localised weather system, whereby only certain parts of a track may be rain-soaked for added unpredictability, and a more involving career mode with news reports and press clippings on the other teams to ascertain the bigger picture of the season, as well as more realistic rivals to make the career more believable.

A "big reveal" for the career mode is said to be coming in the next few weeks so stay tuned.
