The next batch of DriveClub DLC is set to land this month, and Evolution have started to tease its unveil with a short gameplay video of one of the cars included in the next pack reaching a ludicrous speed of 242 mph.

It hasn't been revealed what the car in question is, however, inviting users to speculate from the bumper cam clip.

A quick search online for cars that can reach a top speed of 242 mph reveal the SSC Ultimate Aero TT as a prime candidate. Built by American manufacturer SSC, formally known as Shelby SuperCars, it once held the title of the fastest production car in the world. It's powered by a volcanic V8 engine delivering 1287 bhp (!) and can reach 0 – 60 mph in 2.78 seconds. It's also relatively obscure, which would make it a good fit for DriveClub given Evolution's penchant for featuring lesser-known cars that only the geekiest of petrolheads will know.

However, the video description implies that the car being driven isn't being pushed to its limits afterall: "The car can go a lot faster but we ran out of road pretty quickly…" it reads.

Which leads us to the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, which trumped the Aero's speed record achieving 267.8 mph. Bugatti are notably abscent in DriveClub and have been long-requested by fans, so this is a possibility if Evolution has secured the necessary license. The Super Sport was then superseeded by the Venom GT, which reached 270.49 mph and already features in DriveClub. If you ask me though, the savage engine notes heard in the video don't sound like a Bugatti.

Another European manufacturer in the elite 200 mph+ club is Koenigsegg. We know Evolution already have access to the license since the Agera R features in the game, but it's currently the only Koenigsegg you can drive in DriveClub, so it wouldn't be surprising to see Evolution expand their Koenigsegg lineup.

The conclusion? I would bet on this being the Koenigsegg One:1, a 1341 bhp "mega car" capable of 273 mph which made headlines last year touting itself as the fastest car in the world. It also made its game debut in Need for Speed: Rivals last year. All will be revealed tomorrow, as Game Director Paul Rustchynsky confirmed on Twitter
