Driveclub VR Edition rated by ESRB

Kevin Dooley On April 26, 2016

Despite the recent closure of Evolution Studios, the dev team that brought us Driveclub among other racing classics, it looks as though we may still be in line for a VR version of the PlayStation 4 exclusive racer.

The ratings board ESRB have recently rated “Driveclub VR” for the PlayStation 4 thus confirming its existence (see picture below). Of course with Evolution Studios no longer existing it begs the question as to who is developing this VR version of Driveclub (assuming Evolution didn't already finish development on the VR version).

Driveclub VR was first revealed to the masses last year via a playable demo at Paris Games Week for the upcoming PlayStation VR headset. Despite this no announcements were ever made and with the recent closure of Evolution it was looking perhaps less and less likely that the VR version of Driveclub would ever see its launch.

PlayStation VR is set to launch in October this year and it makes sense for Sony to have as many “killer apps” as possible and Driveclub VR would fit the bill perfectly in my opinion. Could we see Driveclub VR as a launch title for the PlayStation VR? Only time will tell.
