It was a sad day when Evolution Studios was shut down earlier this year. DriveClub will always be remembered as one of the best supported racing games of this generation, with a raft of free updates and a superb season pass. And now DriveClub has been given its final farewell with its last ever update.
Weighing in at a whopping 5.75GB, the free update generously adds 15 new tracks set in the urban locations which debuted in DriveClub VR, plus reverse varients of the following tracks: Gujo in Japan; Ashii in India; Iquique in Chile; Port of Vancouver in Canada; Bryggen in Norway.
The changelog in the update even includes a heartfelt message from the former developer: "Thanks for your support. Thanks for your commitment. Farewell," it reads.
It's certainly rare to see an update rolled out for a game months after the developer was closed, which is a testament to how committed they were to the project. Still, at least this update gives the game the final hurrah it deserves.
Judging from the message, this appears to be the final update for DriveClub, indicating that the game won't be receiving an update to support PlayStation 4 Pro as previously confirmed by Game Director Paul Rustchynsky which is a shame – DriveClub certainly would have dazzled in 60fps.
Farewell, Evolution Studios. We look forward to what your future endeavors with Codemasters will bring.
