DriveClub made its triumphant return yesterday, and yet there's still many questions that remained unanswered. One such question on many player's minds was whether or not DriveClub will achieve the magic 60 frames per second, which is perceived to be the next-gen standard as well as essential for racing games, as a smooth gameplay experience heightens the sense of speed. Turn10 managed to achieve it with Forza Motorsport 5 on Xbox One, so it's not surprising people were expecting the same on PS4 with DriveClub.

Evolution told us last year that they were targeting 60fps despite the build at the time running at 30fps. Sadly, it isn't to be however, as Game Director Paul Rustchynsky has confirmed to VG247 that DriveClub will be locked to 30 frames per second in order to maintain its high visual fidelity and 1080p resolution.

“As we’ve got more familiar with the hardware, and also, looking at what we wanted from the game, we decided that 1080p, 30 frames per second is absolutely the best thing, because what that allows us to do is to deliver the most detailed cars in-race that you will ever have seen," he said.

“It’s allowed us to create some of the biggest tracks you will ever see in a racing game, with the most visually-dense environments, as well as a full global illumination system which allows us to make time of day, where shadows are cast, full-on reflections. It’s allowed us to push all those various areas.”

Will this revelation deter you from taking DriveClub for a spin later this year? Do you favor glossy graphics or smoother framerate? Let us know in the comments below, on our FaceBook page or on our forum
