News DriveClub ESRB rating suggests release is imminent

As we know, the promising PS4 racer DriveClub was unexpectedly impounded at the last minute; a disappointing delay that caused it to miss the next-gen console's launch. Mercifully however, Evolution assured us that we won't have too long to wait for DriveClub to roll off the assembly line while the extra development time allowed them to apply more polish to what was already considered one of the most visually stunning driving games currently in development. 

No release date was confirmed, with Evolution pointing to a vague "early 2014" window. But then came the rumour that DriveClub could be a launch title for the Japanese release of the PS4 in February. And now DriveClub has been rated by the ESRB, which could be another clue that DriveClub's release is indeed imminent.

Unsurprisingly, DriveClub has been rated 'E' for everyone, although I would argue that some of the seductive screenshots and videos released could pass as pure pornography. 

The ESRB describes DriveClub as "a racing simulation game in which players drive real world cars around international race tracks. Players can compete in variety of race series, time trials, and drift challenges." Again, no surprises there. 

More intriguing, though, is the mention of "online features that may expose players to unrated user-generated content." This is probably alluding to the game's numerous social features, which was discussed in detail in our recent DriveClub interview with Evolution. 

So there you have it: more evidence suggesting that DriveClub will be pulling up on PS4 sooner, rather than later. Surely it's only a matter of time before Evolution breaks the radio silence – especially since we haven't seen any glimpses of the game since November. Perhaps we'll even get to see that full race gameplay video they promised  us.
