Sony has released a new developer diary video, which focuses on the upcoming PS4-excusive racing title Drive Club.

Kicking off a new "Conversations with Creators" series (presumably running up to the console's eventual retail release by the end of the year), the clip features a handful of Evolution Studios' key employees discussing some of the features of the intriguing launch title.

Interspersed between the overused racing game jargon ("pick up and play", "easy access, but difficult to master" are several references to DRIVECLUB being a game that's been built around "community", "collaboration" between the players and "social integration".

Which are of interest as well as of concern: the premise of an open world racer is one that has the potential to work, and titles like Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit and the Forza games have proven that social features and car clubs in racing games also aren't faux pas.

However, there's always the risk DRIVECLUB could be sucked into the wormhole that engulfed Test Drive Unlimited 2, another title that had an emphasis on open world racing and the community spirit. If there aren't enough players for the social features to work properly, the community will diminish in size, which affects the game even more, and so on.

As a result, it'll be interesting to see more details on DRIVECLUB at E3 next week, as well as when we eventually get our first hands-on look at the title itself.

And we also know that the dev diary's a bit long winded, so Alan's repurposed it into the tongue-in-cheek edit you see below

Oh, we can't wait for the eventual "Conversations with Creators" dev diary on Gran Turismo 6…
