Loose-terrain racing will soon be coming to the subscription-based PC racing sim iRacing.

Originally believed to have been an April Fools' Day prank by iRacing.com (the announcement of off-tarmac for iRacing was originally made on 1st April), the dirt racing addition to the title will be introduced sometime in 2016.

iRacing.com has also confirmed new dirt-specific content is being developed for the PC racing sim. Along with the Ford Focus RS as fielded by Chip Ganassi Racing in the Global Rallycross series, iRacing will soon feature the Eldora Speedway – a circuit that's perhaps most noteworthy for hosting the only NASCAR Truck Series race held on dirt.

The dirt racing announcement makes iRacing the latest in a long line of racing games on PC to feature dirt-racing content – along with the rally-centric titles Sebastien Loeb Rally Evo and DiRT Rally, Reiza Studios' crowdfunded Automobilista Motorsports also contains rallycross content.
