[UPDATE] Codemasters have released the Modern Monsters pack today, original story below.

Codemasters have given us a good idea of what to expect with the upcoming Modern Masters pack for DiRT Rally. The content pack actually should've been out by now but was delayed slightly due to Codemasters not having the necessary permissions to feature one of the new cars.

Firstly, the Modern Masters pack will see the inclusion of the (hatchback) Subaru Impreza WRX Sti and the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X to the R4 car class. The 2000's car list also gets strengthened with the addition of two new cars in the shape of the Citroen C4 and Ford Focus RS rally cars.

The updated version 2 handling model that has been slowly creeping out will now be applied to the Group B and Group A cars. “These were probably the most primitive cars as they were some of the first cars we made with the v.1 handling model so they have probably seen the most dramatic changes” says DiRT Rally's Lead Game Designer Paul Coleman. “I absolutely love how the Group A cars drive now and the Group B cars are the true challenge they always should have been.”

As has been the case with previous handling updates, the leaderboards will once again be reset. Codemasters are currently busy working on upgrading the handling models to version 2 with the last remaining groups (Kit Cars, Group B RWD and Pikes Peak) in time for the future Winter Wonderland Pack coming before the end of the year.

Codemasters expect the Modern Masters pack to arrive at some point this early this week, so it could be as soon as today or tomorrow possibly.
