DiRT Rally is looking like it won't be getting any support for modding due to the likely hood of causing legal disputes according to Codemasters community manager Lee Williams.
Williams responded to fans on Reddit about the possibility of DiRT Rally supporting mods by saying “Truth is for us to implement it the way people are asking is difficult and sometimes not possible at all.” We couldn't allow people to mod in new cars because of licensing. Even liveries on cars (officially supported) causes licensing issues” he continued.
Williams goes on to say that there are some things that can be done to include mod support but every possible way will be ultimately met with legal reasons to why it is not possible.
Sadly Williams also confirmed that DiRT Rally will not include a custom track creator “we don't have a tool that would enable you guys to make them.” he said. Despite these comments Williams closes out his response by saying that mod support isn't completely off the cards yet but goes on to say that he cannot promise anything.
