Renowned UK motoring writer Chris Harris has announced he's assisting Codemasters Racing in its development of the upcoming Grid 2 game.

Chris Harris – who's provided content for Autocar, Evo, Pistonheads and, most recently, the DRIVE channel on Youtube – revealed on Twitter that he's playing the part of a handling consultant on at least some of the cars in the game.

On paper, Mr. Harris looks like a fine addition to the Grid 2 development team – not only does he have experience in racing cars, but the skills of criticising and analysing a car's dynamic behaviour he's picked up as a motoring writer will be of much use to a game that, as we all know, only has one handling difficulty model.

Indeed, it's going to be very interesting to see what his input in the overall project will be. If you take his words literally, not every car in the game will be given the all-clear by Harris.

Though, judging that he's driven cars such as the BAC Mono, the Pagani Huayra, the Ariel Atom and the Koenigsegg Agera R – which incidentally, will also be in the game – we imagine he'll be putting the finishing touches on quite a few of them.

Also, this could very well be the first time ever that a racing game developer has hired a motoring journalist as a consultant to a title – it's not uncommon to hear of racing drivers fine-tuning handling models in games, but we can't think of another case where a professional motoring writer has actively played a part in developing a game.

All further details of Chris Harris' involvement in Grid 2 are scarce at the moment, but we do know that there'll be a three-part video series (filmed by Harris himself) about the Codemasters title, with the first episode having just gone live this morning.

Of interest to us is that it features quite a bit of in-game footage of two McLaren MP4-12C supercars being thrashed around Brands Hatch. And, whilst we'll let you make your mind up about the visuals, we reckon they're pretty darn impressive!
