Special editions of games containing exclusive content are nothing new, and Assetto Corsa is no exception. Right now, if you're looking to buy Assetto Corsa on PS4 or Xbox One you have two options: the standard game or, if you're willing to shell out a little extra, the Prestige Edition.

The Assetto Corsa Prestige Edition is only available at GAME in the UK, and includes the following nine extra cars:

  • Audi A1 S1
  • Audi R8 V10 Plus
  • BMW M4 Coupe
  • Corvette C7 Stingray
  • Ferrari 488 GTB
  • Ford Mustang 2015
  • Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera
  • Nissan GT-R Nismo 2015
  • Toyota GT86

It's worth noting that the price for the Prestige Edition has increased since launch. Prior to launch, the Prestige Edition was available for £37.99, but it's currently listed at £42.99. Likewise, the standard game could be pre-ordered for £32.99, but it too has had a price bump, selling for £37.99. Our advice if you want the standard edition? Amazon are currently selling it for £29.44 on PS4 and £30.00 on Xbox One.

Initially, it wasn't clear if the extra cars in the Prestige Edition would be available separately for owners of the standard editiion to purchase. Kunos Simulazioni has since clarified the situation on FaceBook, confirming that the Prestige Pack will be available to purchase on PS4 and Xbox One "at a later date". No pricing details have been revealed yet.

The Prestige Pack won't, however, feature in the season pass, which includes the Japanese Pack, the Red Pack, the upcoming Porsche Pack and an exclusive livery.

It's a frustrating situation when you consider the Prestige Edition cars were included in the PC version and are heavily featured in promotional trailers for the console versions, despite not featuring in the standard game most people will buy. Still, at least we know it will be sold separately and not restricted to the Prestige Edition.

Project CARS adopted a similar strategy. The Limited Edition contained five extra cars which were then sold separately.
