Considering Assetto Corsa's imminent release later this year, the lack of new information regarding Kunos Simulazioni's upcoming PC sim is concerning. You therefore have to wonder if Assetto Corsa is still on track for its target release date and if we will be able to sample it any time soon before release.

The development team has since shown signs of life, however. Commemorating Kimi Raikkonnen’s F1 victory with Lotus at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, a batcg of new screenshots have been released showing a sample of Lotus cars following their recent partnership with the esteemed British manufacturer.

The new screenshots depict a Lotus Evora GTE, Exige S 2012 and Elise SC, but the team's close parternship with Lotus promises a diverse range of cars from the past, present and future to appear in the final game, with the possibility of more to follow as DLC later down the line.

Judging from the screenshots, Assetto Corsa's DirectX 11 engine is looking better than ever before, with vastly improved lighting and track detail, along with the lavishly detailed interiors we've come to expect from the developer. The detail applied to the carbon fibre body of the Evora speaks for itself.

We're still awaiting final confirmation of a firm release date, but for now Assetto Corsa is slated to pull out of Kunos Simulazioni's garage in 'late 2012.' A 'technology preview' consisting of a one car and track demo is expected sometime before the release along with a more comprehensive demo to coincide with the final build.
