The French sports car manufacturer Alpine has revealed its contribution to Gran Turismo 6's Vision Gran Turismo programme, courtesy of a new batch of development designs.

Revealed to the world through Alpine's official Twitter feed, the newly-released sketches suggest a radical design will be one of the VGT's defining characteristics. According to a caption on one of the illustrations, the upcoming Alpine will feature "two bodies being held together by a structure which shows strength, lightness and tension".

The Alpine's design also harks back to the company's heritage in road cars and motor racing. The front fascia, for instance, is inspired by the Alpine A110-50 Concept Car's (itself a homage to the iconic Alpine A110 sports car),whilst the centrally-mounted cockpit and and long rear bodywork overhangs are reminscent of those found on the A443 Le Mans prototype from 1978.

Alongside the 'final design' sketches are a batch of images that showcase feature proposals that didn't make it onto the completed car. For example, it appears Alpine toyed with the idea of making its Vision Gran Turismo an open-wheeler, and one case study previews a chassis set-up with a pivoting rear axle (to presumably aid the car's ability to tackle tighter corners).

Alpine has yet to disclose any additional information on its Vision Gran Turismo creation, though it's assumed that – given the sketch reveal – the one-off design study will be released in Gran Turismo 6 in the near future.
