With all the recent spotlight on the console iterations of WRC3, you'd be forgiven for forgetting that a PlayStation Vita version has also been in the works. Well, it has, and Milestone have finally unveiled what we can expect from their handheld debut.

First, the bad news. Those pining for the Vita's first ever rally game will have to wait a little longer than everyone else, as it will arive two weeks later on October 26th.

Unsurprisingly, the Vita version will also be a somewhat lighter package to compensate for the hardware. Only six stages (Rallye  Monte-Carlo, Rallye de France – Alsace, RallyRACC-Rally de Espana, Acropolis Rally, ADAC Rallye Deutschland and Wales Rally GB) will be included compared to 13 in the console and PC versions for example, along with 11 official cars compared to 37.  There will also be no Road to Glory career mode and only six players will be able to compete online as opposed to 16.

Do not despair, however, as Milestone will be offering some free DLC to soften the blow in the form of three extra stages, which will include Rally Guanajuato Mexico, Philips Rally Argentina and Vodafone Rally de Portugal.

As for the good news? Well, we've played it. And we can safely that WRC3 holds up remarkably well on Vita when put against its beefier brothers, despite the aforementioned setbacks.

But you'll have to wait for our exclusive hands-on to get the full lowdown on exactly how it fares. Trust us, it's worth the wait.

In the meantime, you can suckle over the these new Vita screenshots provided by Milestone – we think you'll agree that, visually, WRC3 is looking mightily impressive on Vita, with surprisingly little loss in detail or fidelity when compared to its console counterparts.

Will the Vita version be your format of choice for WRC3? As always, you can let us know in the comments below, on our Facebook page or on our forum
